The 2020 Plince is deep garnet-purple in color. It features notions of prunes, baked blackberries, and tapenade, plus suggestions of tobacco leaf, dried herbs, and tar. The full-bodied palate is concentrated, with black fruit and savory layers supported by chewy tannins and bright acidity, finishing earthy.

Carefully extracted fresh and floral aromatics, slim but enjoyable just-ripe berry fruits, fresh acidities that are a little too much, making things austere. Give it time to soften, as the final impression is of an unfussy early-drinking wine. Moreau family owners, 30% new oak. Grape variety given is as planted, not specific to the 2024 vintage. Tasted twice.

Inside Bordeaux

Beautiful velvety red in colour, supple texture to the tannins. This is intense, very much the byword in Pomerol in 2022, plenty of dark chocolate, bitter cocoa bean, mint, choc, slate and graphite. Moreau family, 8.66ha of clay soils, harvest September 19 to 23. 

Generous, with Pomerol signature of mint leaf and cocoa bean, enjoyable berry fruits, slightly bitter fennel and tannic bite on the finish but this is easy to recommend. 8.5ha, harvest September 25 to October 6.

Enjoyable rich blackberry and black cherry fruits, savoury but with a silky tannic frame and good expansion through the mid palate. Well balanced with liquorice and fennel. Good stuff. Harvest September 27 to October 10.
