The nose is medium-bodied, porous and intensely fruity with cherries and blackberries. There are also red roses, dry forest floor, wood with resin, and truffles. It is very complex and appealing. The palate is medium-bodied, fruity, medium-acidic, with licorice, and with ripe and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long, fruity and complex.
It’s lovely to drink now, and pairs perfectly with roasted sirloin (lomo) from Iberico pork. It can still be aged for another 10 years, probably without getting better.
At this time there was 5-8% Barbera mixed in with the Nebbiolo, so the wine was not approved as Barolo.
