The 2023 Haut-Madrac is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It opens with overtones of cedar chest and pencil shavings giving way to a core of cassis, redcurrant jelly, and wet slate plus a waft of dried sage. The medium-bodied palate is tart and chewy, with muscular black and red berry flavors and a stewed tea-laced finish. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot.

Grilled smoky sandalwood aromatics, vanilla bean and grilled blackberry fruits, fresh acidities on the finish, 30% new oak, 12 months followed by 6 months in vat before bottling. Produced in the cellars at Lynch Moussas, a Cru Bourgeois in the last ranking, expected to be reconfirmed in the new edition later this year.

Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple in color. Delivers notes of red and black plums and boysenberries, plus hints of sautéed herbs and wet slate. The light-bodied palate reveals lightly chewy tannins and a crisp backbone, finishing savory.

The 2022 Haut-Madrac, 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, is deep garnet-purple in color. It offers up evocative scents of redcurrant jelly, plum preserves, and juicy blueberries, leading to suggestions of rose oil, bay leaves, and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is bright and refreshing, with a soft texture and very fruity finish.
