Deep inky colour, as with so many this year, gravel soils, cassis and gunsmoke, this is an enjoyable Haut-Médoc that gives you appellation signature, bang for your buck, and a ton of spice. Fresh, fruity, no-brainer. 30% new oak. This is a value buy. Vinified at Lynch Moussas, with cool temperature vinification between 22 and 26C to deal with the excess of the year.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2022 Haut-Madrac, 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, is deep garnet-purple in color. It offers up evocative scents of redcurrant jelly, plum preserves, and juicy blueberries, leading to suggestions of rose oil, bay leaves, and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is bright and refreshing, with a soft texture and very fruity finish.

Deep garnet-purple in color. Delivers notes of red and black plums and boysenberries, plus hints of sautéed herbs and wet slate. The light-bodied palate reveals lightly chewy tannins and a crisp backbone, finishing savory.

Grilled smoky sandalwood aromatics, vanilla bean and grilled blackberry fruits, fresh acidities on the finish, 30% new oak, 12 months followed by 6 months in vat before bottling. Produced in the cellars at Lynch Moussas, a Cru Bourgeois in the last ranking, expected to be reconfirmed in the new edition later this year.
