Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2022 Puygueraud reveals bright, expressive notes of red currant jelly, fresh blackberries, and kirsch, leading to suggestions of star anise and potpourri. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with black and red berry layers, supported by firm, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with a red berry lift. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc and the soil here in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux is limestone-clay on clay.

Chewy tannins, densely packed black cherry and raspberry, sappy tannins with edges of chalk and slate. This is really rather beautiful, an exceptional vintage of this wine, and should be great value from the Thienpont family. 37.5hl/h yield, 25% oak, and the rest in casks and cement. Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple colored. Slips out of the glass with seducing scents of kirsch and black raspberries, opening out to hints of cinnamon stick and lavender. The light-bodied palate is vibrant and soft-textured with lovely purity and a fragrant finish.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Puygueraud Rouge comes bombing out of the glass with energetic notes of fresh blueberries, black cherries, and anise leading to hints of violets, tar, and cumin seed. The medium-bodied palate delivers a racy backbone and lightly chewy tannins with just enough bright, crunchy black fruit flavors, finishing with a skip in its step. Nice! The blend is 90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec.

Attractive nose, with marzipan, fennel, redcurrant fruits. There is a great clarity to the fruits on the palate, a little dilute through the mid palate but easy to drink, balanced, juicy, fresh. Chalky tannins, with grip. Tasted twice. One of the highest points of Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, helped mitigate the frost risk. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Puygueraud Rouge features bright, expressive scents of kirsch, black raspberries, and rose oil with touches of black pepper and tree bark. The full-bodied palate delivers mouth-filling, ripe black fruits with rounded tannins and a refreshing lift on the finish.

Concentrated texture, with damson and black cherry fruits to the fore, and an undertow of limestone salinity underpinning the palate. Great quality in an appellation that did well in 2019, and an enjoyable twist of bitter almond on the finish. 50% aged in new oak, 50% stainless steel vats.
