The tannins are gentle and integrated even now, while still in barrel, and its provides a striking contrast wtih many 2022s from this corner of Tuscany, where concentration is the byword. Sassicaia is able to retain acidity even in the hottest summers, and the balsamic and butterscotch notes are beautifully balanced by rosebuds, lavender, red cherries, rosemary, fennel, charred sandalwood and tomato leaf. The frame is in place, and the density offset by a soft textural caress. Sample taken from three barrels, final wine to be shipped in a few months, after a dry vintage helped by a few rains here just before harvest. 40% new oak for ageing, Carlo Paoli director.

Both gourmet and restrained, and like all great wines there is a sense of contrast, of being enveloped by what is happening on your tastebuds while also being woken up by a lick of fresh acidities. Grilled butterscotch on the nose, with balsamic, fleshy raspberry and blackberry fruits, roses, olive pit, baking spice, rosemary, red liqourice, such a stunning, concentrated core, very different to the 2019 in character, both exceptional. Carlo Paoli director, 50% new oak for ageing after a cool spring then hot mid summer and end of season.

Dyp moden frukt. Røde bær, solbær, lær, tobakk, vanilje, plomme og krydder. Konsentrert modne bær og krydder i smak. Balansert syre. Stor munnfølelse. Middels pluss chewy tannin. Varer lenge. Blir bedre med lagring for å runde tanninene enda mer.

🇬🇧Bottle opened, decanted and left to breathe before serving for about two hours and a half. At this stage the wine is still very young, almost shy but it is already showing complex, intense and well integrated aroma of blackberries, blueberries, cassis, plums with a linear, ongoing eucalyptus note. There are also aroma of tobacco and chocolate and it is pretty clear the oak will still need some time to fully integrate and add even more complexity to the wine. Very pleasant herbal note both on the nose and on the palate on the long finish. Tannins are high but somehow already velvety, elegant rather than grippy. I personally think the wine is to be forgotten in the cellar for some years but the vintage is much more approachable and accessible now than so called better vintages. A safe-call in terms of style, the wine and the producer need no introductions, also for those who have no patience to wait and are looking for the power rather than a mature refined elegance.
🇮🇹Questa bottiglia è stata aperta e decantata circa due ore e mezzo prima di essere servita. Al momento il vino è ancora giovanissimo, piuttosto chiuso e un po' timido ma già si possono gustare - sia al naso che in bocca - aromi intensi e complessi, principalmente cassis, mirtilli, more e prugne con un retrogusto di eucalipto. Il legno è ben presente con sapori di tabacco e cioccolato, serve tempo per integrarsi ed esprimersi al meglio. Sul lungo finale, una piacevole continua nota erbacea. Tannini comunque eleganti, non così aggressivi da risultare non piacevoli. Personalmente dimenticherei la bottiglia in cantina per qualche anno ma ritengo che sia un'annata molto più accessibile e bevibile anche adesso rispetto ad altre annate ritenute migliori. Né il vino né il produttore hanno bisogno di presentazioni, entrambi sono una certezza e questa annata ad oggi può far felice anche chi non ha la pazienza di attendere un elegante sviluppo ma cerca piuttosto una giovane esuberanza del frutto.

En suveren vin, med komplekse aromaer av moreller, solbær, eukalyptus, rosmarin, tobakk og tjære. Stor og fyldig, konsentrert og fokusert, med integrerte tanniner og en veldig lang finish.

The nose is fruity with blackcurrants and cherries. It is sweet and sour and there are violets. The oak is completely integrated. The palate is light, medium-bodied, structured and medium-acidic. The tannins are fine-grained and well integrated. The finish is long and acidic. 

It is already in its perfect drinking window, but can stay at this level for at least another 10 years. 

Monica Larner in WA tasted it in 2013 and 2017, giving it 96 and 91 points respectively. She thought it had matured too far already in 2017. She must have had a weak bottle because this one is fresh and pleasant. It pairs beautifully with entrecôte on the bone from Jæren. The pairing is actually better than for Montrose 2000, which is admittedly a better wine.

Fantastisk vin - vanskelig å finne noe som ikke stemmer - nydelig frukt og duft av røde bær samt fin røyk/tobakk duft - god syre og avslepen taniner - ekstremt lang og syns strukturen av vinen er veldig bra! 

The nose is fruity with black currants. It also has leather and some exotic spices. 

The palate is medium-bodied, fruity and with very good acidity. The tannins are noticeable, but nicely integrated. The finish is long and acidic. 

It is still mostly primary, and thus has great potential. The previous bottle about 3 years ago had a little too much oak, which is now well integrated. It is a brilliant wine.

The nose is fruity with blackcurrants, blackberries and ripe strawberries. There is also dark chocolate, mint and damp cellar. It is complex and appealing. 

The palate is full-bodied, intensely fruity, now towards raspberries, acidic and nicely balanced. The tannins are elegant and well integrated. The finish is very long and complex. It’s lovely to drink now and seems perfectly mature. It’s probably because it’s a half bottle. It is nevertheless very fresh, and will remain at this level for at least another 10 years.

Luftet i karaffel i 1 time. 

Fin og dyp rødfarge. På nesen er det syrlige kirsebær, bringebær, røyk, lett vanilje og noe plomme. 

Moden og juicy. Fruktdreven med moden frukt. Eiken er delikat. Full kropp. Modne og fløyelsmyke tanniner. Lang fin finish hvor frukten er sentral. 

Fantastisk utviklet vin. Fremdeles fyldig med den er blir avslipt og silkemyk. Integrerte tanniner, urter, lakris og treverk. Utrolig fin struktur og lenge. Frukten er moden men utrolig delikat. Det er dette man venter på når man klarer å la den ligge ca 15 år.

Ganske stram duft selv med flere timers luft. Cloudy rød med klar kant. Dufter av klassisk supertoscaner blend. Urter, cassis, balsamico, sopp og jord på nesen. Tanninene har godt grep  og munnfylden og finish leverer særdeles godt.

Dyp rød farge med herlig farge på kanten. Tanninene i denne griper fortsatt utrolig godt. Noter av urter, cedertre, lakris og mørke bær. 

Dyp rød, fantastisk vin. Litt kirsebær på nesen. Andre noter jeg plukker opp er solbær og hint av lær. Fantastisk finish og helt enormt godt balansert. Tanninene her er strålende. 

Sier WOW igjen. 
For en opplevelse - 

For en som er opphengt i moden Bordeaux så er dette ingen unntak. Her kommer min personlige smak inn i spill. Dette er ren fløyel på tungen, ingen garve og en finish som ikke stopper. Denne vinen vil man bare gurgle. 

En fantastisk glitrende rødfarge, henger hardt igjen i glasset.

Duft av svak sjokolade, litt pepper og eksplosjon av mørke bær. 

Fløyel i munnen, smak av søte bær og kirsebær. Helt rått

Alltid en fornøyelse

Jewel-red, waves of cured leather, olive paste, undergrowth, rich peaty aromatics, coffee grounds, cedar, this has campfire smoke and crushed rose petals set against luscious grilled red cherry fruits, laced with fennel and a softly enticing tannic architecture that is lace-fine. Seems almost younger than the last time I tasted it in Rome way back in 2016. Today it is impossible to put down, with a freshness and upward lift that stretches out through the palate, carrying you with it, still very much full of life. 40% new oak for ageing, Giacomo Tachis winemaker.

So finely spun, with pillowed tannins, perfect weighting and freshness through the palate, fires up your senses with rosemary, white truffle, mocha, underbrush, olive tapenade, redcurrant and crushed raspberry fruits, utterly moreish. No hint of it going anywhere after an hour open in the glass, even at almost 40 years old. This was a low-yield vintage after a very cold winter, where 80% of the olive trees in Tuscany were destroyed, which no doubt contributes to this concentration and persistence. And if you want to know if setting makes a difference to the enjoyment of a wine, I first tasted this almost ten years ago during an estate vertical in a fresco-ceilinged Roman palace while overlooking the fountains of Piazza Navona. This time I was at home with a bowl of (excellent) pasta. Both times a stone cold 100 points. 40% new oak for ageing, Giacomo Tachis winemaker.
